Both the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS have been practical solutions for business-oriented gamers in other continents, rivaling PDA brands like Blackberry and Palm. But only now are non-game oriented features and functions stealing the limelight in North America, with the '08 CES in Las Vegas bringing more news of intriguing add-ons for the PlayStation Portable.

To go along with the promised pseudo-cell phone Skype service compatibility, Sony revealed a system that will let owners of the PSP add text quickly and efficiently. A device commonly known as a keyboard. It's expected to be a portable Bluetooth model that will hit the market next year, but Sony wouldn't say if it wil be based on the concept presented at the 2005 E3. Neither did the company say what it might mean for gamers, especially fans of RTS and RPG series.

Sony also confirmed that the PSP GPS and camera units readily available in Japan will help North American consumers explore and capture by the end of the year.
