Developer Slitherine has signed a deal with Scholastic to create games based on the best-selling Horrible Histories books.

The titles, which will be released on PC, Wii and DS next spring, will be based on author Terry Deary's series, which first launched in 1993 and has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

"Slitherine are experts in historical computer gaming and we are delighted to have found the right home for our brand," said Lisa Edwards, editorial director at Scholastic.

"Die-hard Horrible Histories fans have been waiting for an exciting gaming extension of the brand – and if we can attract children who are primarily gamers to the books then that will indeed be a bonus."
