A sequel to Halo 3 is to be created, according to one Hollywood source.

Gearbox, the developer of Brothers in Arms, has "definitely" had conversations with Microsoft about the project, claims an insider at Variety.

The firm is reported to be "very excited" at the prospect of working on the title.

Although every other Halo game has been developed by Bungie, a new developer is predicted to take over after Bungie became independent last year.
