Tired of waiting for Spore to release? Well, you're only going to have to wait a little longer, according to yesterday's interview with creator Will Wright on BBC's Radio Live 5. Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, revealed that the game is currently playable from start to finish, and is going to spend the next six months in the final testing phase.

Will Wright's single-cell-to-galactic-domination sim has been a very long time coming. The team at Maxis actually started work on Spore in 2000, but Wright has been non-committal about any specific ship date – one imagines the “when it's done” school of thought is a necessity when dealing with games of this scope.

Keep an eye out for this one sometime in Spring 2008.
