GEM Impact, Inc. announced today Norihiko Hibino’s involvement with Prescription for Sleep, an iPhone and iPod Touch application that aims to alleviate the stresses of the day and help users relax and prepare for bed. The application is a collaboration between Norihiko Hibino’s newly created Hibino Sound Therapy Lab and producer Marc Cellucci from Mission One, LLC. It features soothing visuals and accompanying melodies composed by Norihiko Hibino and performed by a small ensemble of live players. Each piece has been meticulously crafted to aid in sleep, with a measured pace and inaudible frequencies that replicate sounds heard in nature. Prescription for Sleep has soared to the number two spot in the health and fitness category in Japan, and is now available in the United States.

“I have been interested in the therapeutic applications of music for quite some time now,” notes Hibino. “Creating this music was a meticulous but rewarding experience, and I hope that people around the world are able to appreciate music for more than entertainment purposes through applications like Prescription for Sleep.”

Prescription for Sleep is available on the iTunes App Store for $2.99 USD, and is compatible with both the iPhone and iPod Touch. It was released globally on March 10, 2009, and is available in both Japanese and English.
